49ers Demise is a Coaching Failure

Levi Stadium

I used to write for a sports blog. I don’t write about the games much anymore, but after last night’s horrible NFL game, I felt compelled to say something. The Seattle Seahawks arrived at Levi Stadium to play the San Francisco 49ers, but the home team stayed away.

The players cannot be faulted for the embarrassing loss which guaranteed that the 49ers will not be playing in their own stadium on February 7th . The coaching staff is completely inept and did not prepare their team for a very important game.

Seattle players praised their own defense for the one-sided win, but the game I watched revealed an offensive line which failed to perform at a professional level.

The 20-3 final was not indicative of the failure of the 49er coaching staff. It was obvious that they made no halftime adjustments as the total yardage for the game for San Francisco was 142. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was sacked six times. If he had open receivers, he never had the opportunity to get them the ball.

As a life-long football fan, I don’t need to be informed by poorly qualified announcers about what is happening in a game. The 49er players appeared confused and unsure of what to do on the field. When this happens the coaching staff must accept the blame.

The defense played up to its potential against an improved Seahawk team, but the offense could have stayed home.

The owners of the San Francisco 49ers need to follow the example of the Miami Dolphins; a change is mandatory, and it must be made yesterday.
