Huckabee is a Minister and Pays no Taxes

Huckabee

Common sense and reality have no place in the GOP. They spin the truth and allow it to support their distorted vision of what is real. Five Democrats participated in the first debate, and two of them faced reality and have withdrawn from the race; Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee. Two of seventeen GOP candidates have removed themselves from contention. Why do at least ten of them remain when they have absolutely no chance of obtaining their party’s nomination?

One of these ‘impossibles’ is Mike Huckabee. Eliminating the fact that he is unqualified and has but a single issue, Christianity, he would not represent all of America. Past statements and actions disqualify the Minister.

Now he is after the IRS claiming that it singles out conservatives and pro-Israel groups.

“They use the extraordinary, almost unlimited power of government that they have and they use it to attack political enemies. They use it to attack conservatives, pro-Israel groups. They hide the records, they destroy the records,” Huckabee said.

Not only is he wrong, but he chooses to ignore a true miscarriage of justice from which he benefits. Religions do not pay taxes of any type in our nation. Huckabee is a Christian minister who has this privilege. The Christian religious right contributes nothing to our nation but accepts special treatment. It is one of the owners of the GOP and influences its actions but fails to support all of our nation’s people while accepting tax exempt status.

Televangelists and many pastors of churches across the nation live lives of luxury. Not only are they not required to pay taxes, there are no taxes levied on their living quarters or the grand edifices they call a church. This must change.

Huckabee cannot have everything his way and deny the rights of others.

Preach to your followers and remove yourself from politics; we don’t want or need you.
