I was Wrong about GOP Voters

GOP 2016

Throughout the Obama Administration I was critical of the GOP and how it had become the ‘party of no.’ I was right. But I was wrong about GOP voters, I had assumed that they supported those they elected and failed. Polls of several types have proven that conservative voters are disgusted with Washington gridlock and do not entirely blame Democrats for the problem.

The most recent poll reveals that GOP voters prefer an outsider rather than elected officials who have accomplished nothing while in office. Marco Rubio doesn’t even show up to vote much of the time. This is why Donald Trump and Ben Carson are separating themselves from the herd.

Three TEA Party darlings remain in the race for the GOP nomination. All three have accomplished little during their time in the Senate. Rand Paul has filled the chamber with rhetoric, but has no positive achievements to his credit. Marco Rubio is consistently on the sidelines when he does show up to do his job. Ted Cruz is the worst of all. His goal is the destruction of the American people. He led the shutdown of our government in 2013 and attempted to do so again this year. He has attempted to revoke every social program beneficial for the working class, some of which required decades to achieve.

I also commend voters for their rejection of Jeb Bush. He openly admits that he admired the ‘success’ of his brother’s two terms in office, and would mimic his presidency. Jeb has proven that he has less intelligence than George during his campaign, and is unqualified to lead the nation. There have been enough Bush’s in the White House.

Both Republican and Democratic voters are tired of the many wars our country has waged during the last five decades. Lindsey Graham openly stated that if he were to be elected America would wage another war in the Mideast.

Mike Huckabee is nothing more than an agent for the Christian religious right.

All voters have a right to expect more from those they elect. Congress has wasted both time and money for seven years. Deliberation and compromise have become lost arts. Diplomacy has been replaced with name calling and accusations.

A recent poll revealed that 77 percent of GOP voters prefer an ‘outsider.’ The highest rated candidates are Ben Carson and Donald Trump. The least favorite is Chris Christie. They believed that someone with no experience would do a better job in Washington.

In the same poll two-thirds of Democrats would prefer a president who has vast experience in the federal government to lead our nation.
