World Series or GOP Debate?

KC Royals

Tonight, Wednesday, some Americans will be forced to make a decision. In any other campaign year, there would be no difficulty; the World Series would dominate the ratings. However, the GOP has become such a circus it’s difficult not to watch it. Sadly, the purpose of watching the “debate” is not to learn anything about the candidates and their positions on the issues, it’s serves a single interest; who will attack Donald Trump first, and how will he retaliate?

I am going to watch the World Series. I stayed awake for all 14 innings last night, and I believe that watching the debate would feel much, much longer. Other than entertainment surrounding Trump, there’s nothing interesting about this group of unqualified individuals who have no ideas. The only consideration I have is ‘should I record the debate?’ I could then watch the entertaining parts later.

So far I have watched the first faux-debate between the passengers in the clown car, and the first game of the World Series. One was a contest between two excellent teams, while the other was filled with nine people and the commentators waging attacks on one man. One was a game, and the other was a side show misnamed a debate.

Winning the World Series is the goal of every professional baseball player. It is the ultimate championship for the sport. It matters little who ‘wins’ tonight’s debate. It holds as much importance as the polls.

Ben Carson polled at 26 percent; Trump at 22. All of the rest were in single digits. A perfect example of how little these figures matter at this time, in 2012 Herman Cain was leading during this period in the campaign season.

I’m sure some of you will watch the ‘debate’ and likely fall asleep during the show. I’ll be watching far more talented and intelligent men attempting to smash a ball with a bat. If it lasts another 14 innings it won’t seem as long as the GOP sideshow.
