The majority of Wednesday night’s debate witnessed the prospective candidates on the defense. This is probably where they should be, but it failed as an actual debate. ‘Clown car three’ was better than ‘clown car one’ and two, but not by much.
The single conclusion derived from Wednesday evening was that the GOP has no effective leadership. The candidates complained about the questioning from CNBC, and they had reason to be upset. These debates have been organized by the RNC and Reince Priebus. Why were the moderators poorly prepared to conduct an actual debate?
When they did ask questions about policy, ten men and one woman continued their only tactic; blame it on President Obama and Hillary Clinton. They failed miserably.
They attempted to blame income inequality, poverty, and anything else Democrats already discussed during their first debate, on progressives. Do they all work for FOX Noise? The GOP is the party of the wealthy, not the Democrats.
There was one issue which was not only factual but important for the American people and our political system. Donald Trump attacked the Super PACs who attempt to buy elections. All of the other candidates are supported by them, and they had nothing to say.
Ben Carson continued to display his lack of knowledge about anything other than surgery. He was challenged for his ideas about taxes and health care; the math simply didn’t work.
Marco Rubio attempted to defend his failure to perform the job for which he was elected. Since the campaign began the junior Senator from Florida has missed 40 percent of voting opportunities.
Carly Fiorina defended her failed tenure as the CEO of HP, but conveniently did not mention the fact that she was a job destroyer, not a job creator. She laid off 30,000 employees while she was in control of the electronics giant.
Rand Paul made a fool of himself attempting a discussion about Medicare and social security.
Ted Cruz spewed the same old GOP litany that the wealthy are ‘job creators,’ and will save America.
Chris Christie was simply embarrassing as he attempted to take sides with the working class. His words made no sense, and he was one of the big losers.
The biggest loss was experienced by Jeb Bush. His praise of past fiscal policies which failed miserably gave proof to the American people that his ideas are those practiced previously by his older brother. Bush is losing ground in the polls and is becoming desperate.
The final analysis was that a combination of unqualified moderators and unqualified candidates produced another failed ‘debate.’ There were many accusations and attempts to join the Democrats in recognition of our domestic problems, but no plausible solutions were offered.
The major media will likely label the winners and losers from last evening. They will be mistaken. No one actually won and no one lost; nothing was accomplished. No one stood out as a candidate worthy of my vote.
Two Democratic candidates have removed themselves from consideration for their party’s nomination. Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee were both more qualified than any of the eleven who appeared on stage Wednesday night.
Once again the GOP has failed the American people. The trend of offering failed candidates to the American people continues.
