GOP Wants ‘Easy’ Questions During Debates

Christie

Last Wednesday the GOP held its third presidential debate. It was hosted and moderated by CNBC. During the debate Chris Christie and Ted Cruz complained about the questions. Cruz dodged a serious question about his obstructionist tactics to block budget talks to register his anger. Christie wanted the debate to be more ‘serious.’

A close scrutiny of the event revealed two facts. The questions were similar to other debates, including a few frivolous queries to break the tension and keep the viewers involved. While it’s true that the moderators were not as prepared as they should have been, that was to the advantage of some candidates who blatantly lied, but the moderators were unable to prove their lack of veracity.

Donald Trump, Ben Carson, and Marco Rubio looked directly into the cameras and the homes of the American people and lied without the slightest evidence of embarrassment.

Trump lied about his criticism of Mark Zuckerberg regarding H-1B visas; Carson lied about his involvement with a supplement company which is under indictment; and Rubio lied about his personal finances, which asks the question about his ability to manage our nation’s finances.

After the debate Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, joined with the candidates with complaints about the questions. It was his responsibility to organize the debate. He is a perfect example of failed leadership in the GOP.

Fourteen passengers of the clown car want more involvement in the formatting of the debates; and Priebus agrees with them. In other words, they want to control what questions are asked and remove those which might be embarrassing or ones they simply don’t wish to answer. The only dissenter was Chris Christie who said that anyone who couldn’t answer questions on the stage should not be running for president. Bravo!

The truth is that the candidates did not like the questions, but even more importantly they were unhappy with their own answers. When stammering and stumbling while being asked about his ‘flat rate income tax.’ Ben Carson removed himself for any possible consideration for political office. When the moderator proved that Carson’s math was erroneous, he had no answer.

Far tougher questions were asked of the Democrats during their first debate, but they were prepared, qualified, and had answers.

Carson added to the proof that he is completely unqualified for the GOP nomination when he claimed that the question about his tax plan was a “gotcha.” If they can’t answer questions about their platforms, it is no longer a debate, it’s a speech.

In summation, this proves once again that the Democrats have two very qualified and competent candidates, while the GOP has none. Whoever eventually wins the GOP nomination will be destroyed during the presidential debates. The election is a year away, but the presidential race may already be decided.
