How Matt Bevin Won Kentucky’s Gubernatorial Election

Kentucky Governor's Office

“I just like his values,” said Lisa Harris, a 46-year-old manufacturing worker in Georgetown who said she voted for Bevin. “I love the way he has adopted children. He was a serviceman and he’s Christian and he doesn’t care to tell that. I just really like his core value of family and home.”

This is a typical GOP voter. Ms. Harris doesn’t care if he’s qualified to lead her state, she voted for Matt Bevin the same way voter’s mistakenly voted for George W. Bush; they thought he was a nice guy.

Bevin wasn’t ignorant, he played the ‘religious emotion card.’ He supported Kim Davis when she refused to perform the duties for which she was elected. Make no mistake about it, religious fanaticism will eventually be our nation’s downfall. Another fact is that politicians use religion, they don’t believe in it. They do not believe in the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. They use religion to secure elections.

We need leaders at both the state and federal level who have ideas and believe in the future, not the past.

These was Bevin at his victory speech; all ‘politicaleze,’ and no substance.

“We are blessed with an incredible set of values the vast majority of Kentuckians hold,” Bevin said in his victory speech. “While some will apologize, there is no reason that we must apologize for the core principles that make us an exceptional nation, that make us an exceptional state.”

GOP candidates cannot win on the issues; they have none. They prey upon a voter’s biggest weakness; emotions. Emotions have destroyed nations and individuals. Logic, common sense, and intellect lead countries to greatness. America is not a great country; it once was, but our leaders have moved us in a downward direction.

I remember reading that some voters liked George W. Bush because ‘he is one of us; he’s a regular guy.’ How did that work out?

Our nation needs exceptional people who understand both foreign and domestic difficulties. Voting for any other reason than superior qualifications is fine if you’re choosing a minister for your church or the president of the PTA, but not for the person who will be leading your state or your country into the future or the past.

The voting public must wake up. They must stop electing the George Bush’s, and believing that Sarah Palin could have been even an adequate president. Donald Trump and Ben Carson would create serious problems at home and abroad if they lived in the White House. Their prejudices and lack of any governing experience make them dangerous.

So, stop listening to FOX Noise and find real news filled with facts instead of lies and conjecture. Stop voting for the Matt Bevin’s of the world who play upon the weakness of your emotions, and elect qualified and sincere candidates. Electing Bevin is the same as electing Kim Davis. Religion is a private matter, and must not influence our political system. The Christian religious right is the ultimate special interest. Those who hold political office must represent all the people, and, yes, that includes Muslims. He or she cannot have opinions about social issues such as abortion or same-sex marriage, or attempt to force their religion on others. Issues such as these do not affect the manner in which our nation or your state must be governed.

Wake up America; it’s time to return to the days when intellect trumped emotion. It’s time for common sense.
