More Republican Fantasy

Santorum

Around this time four years ago Herman Cain was leading in the GOP polls. He was the front runner in a crowded group of presidential wannabees. Sound familiar? Two weeks later Mitt Romney held the lead and never looked back.

Here’s a classic reason why early polls must be ignored. A poll taken by Quinnipiac University revealed Wednesday that Hillary Clinton would lose to all four of the leading GOP candidates, with the exception of Donald Trump, if the election was today. It’s not. Ben Carson had the largest margin at 50-40 percent. The poll was based on ‘likability,’ and not the how the candidates rated on the issues.

First of all, if either Ben Carson or Donald Trump wins the GOP nomination it will signal the end of the GOP. Not even a party with zero leadership, no ideas, and extremist policies would dare nominate an individual who would be slaughtered in the presidential debates. Let’s wait and see the results of those debates and then declare Ben Carson a winner.

I have a serious question; how is it possible for GOP voters, although they have proven in the past that they do not care if candidates have moral values or are convicted criminals, consider Ben Carson who cannot explain his own ideas and is a blatant liar? I assume that many of them didn’t actually watch the CNBC debate, and definitely failed to fact check his claim that he was never associated with Mannatech. He was shamed as he was unable to explain his failed tax plan with simple math.

The Iowa Caucus is February 1st; let’s see if the state’s voters use intelligence or emotion when they consider a standard bearer for their party.

Of course I must remind all readers that four years ago Rick Santorum won the Iowa caucus. Really.
