Ben Carson Continues to Lie

Carson

Ben Carson told a blatant lie during the third GOP faux-debate. He claimed he had no association with Mannatech, a supplement company which is under federal indictment. A simple fact check revealed that he worked with and for them for ten years, including paid speeches and an infomercial. He continues his habit of telling untruths.

Carson does not believe that remarks made in a book, or in a speech should be important in an election; more proof that he doesn’t understand American politics, especially when one is running for the highest office in the land. Everything is fair game once one seeks public office, especially his or her veracity.

Carson’s latest folly has to do with his violent past. In a 1990 autobiography he claimed that he attempted to stab a friend, hit another with a lock, and tried to hit his mother with a hammer. He has changed his story several times. He now claims that the person he attempted to stab was a ‘close relative,’ and that he never tried to harm his mother. In the autobiography he used the names of ‘Bob’ and ‘Jerry.’ Now he claims that those were not their real names, although there is no disclaimer in the book.

Carson is under attack from his fellow candidates and Democrats.

But Carson doesn’t care, and believes he is receiving unfair scrutiny.

“‎Why would anybody know about, you know, private incidents like that? You know, I was generally a nice person, it’s just that I had a very bad temper,” Carson told CNN at a lunchtime book signing. “So unless you were the victim of that temper, why would you know? Just because you happened to know me? That doesn’t make any sense.”

Seeking the presidency invites investigation into both personal and private life. Our nation’s leader must have intelligence, integrity, and be of exceptional moral character. Everyone makes mistakes, but attempting to ‘cover them up’ instead of admitting them and learning from them places doubt in the minds of voters.

Come on GOP; you must have someone better to offer the American people than Ben Carson.
