If you are a supporter of either the TEA Party or Republicans, you must be a bit nervous. The candidates are attacking each other more viciously than their Democratic opponents. The attacks are valid, and that is likely more worrisome to the faithful.
Desperation is the key word for Rand Paul. He is all but eliminated from consideration by his party’s voters. He has seen his financial supporters move to other candidates, and his poll numbers are moving in the wrong direction. Although he is a member of the TEA Party Three, the billionaires who created the travesty which is the divisive party in the GOP, they are deserting his campaign.
Since Donald Trump made immigration reform the big issue, others in the GOP have attempted to align themselves with the real estate buffoon. Paul has joined in the melee. He is bashing Marco Rubio for his involvement in attempting to negotiate some form of realistic reform. Rubio has many problems, but this is his least offense.
“I think it’s been a little bit forgotten in some of the debate, but yeah—he was a part of the ‘Gang of Eight.’ At some point in time, he probably needs to be made to own it. He does own it. It is his baby, but he seems to have disowned his baby right now.”
Fair? Definitely, but it smells of desperation. It’s true that Rubio has no standards, no position on any issue, and that his morals have been questioned, but it’s interesting that GOP candidates are forced to attack those in their own party who are ahead in the polls.
The front runners cannot be eliminated from this discussion. Ben Carson’s naiveté was expected. He is complaining that his past and personal revelations are unfair. How wrong can he be? Has he just arrived in the United States? When you tell the nation that you deserve to be their leader, everything is in play.
“I’m getting special scrutiny. Because, you know, there are a lot of people very threatened … they’re worried. There is no question about it,” said Carson. “And, you know, every single day, every other day or every week, you know, they’re going to come out with, ‘Well, you said this when you were 13.’ And the whole point is to distract the populace, distract me. You know, if you’ve got a real scandal, if you’ve got something that’s really important, let’s talk about that.”
In fact some of what he says is true, but when you become the leader in one of our two major political parties you are open to any form of assessment by the media. If you were not aware of this, you shouldn’t have declared your candidacy.
Never believe that Donald Trump would not be a part of this interior war among GOP hopefuls.
“I guess a book was written … before he was in politics, but he said he has ‘pathological disease’ in the book,” said Trump. “That’s a very serious problem because that’s not something that’s cured. That’s a very serious thing you have to live with.”
As a politico and an Independent, I am having a wonderful campaign season, and it’s still very early. I receive new material every day. Only the late night comics are having more fun because they have a larger audience.
Oh Happy Day!
