Comparing the second Democratic Debate to any of the four GOP debacles can only be described as one group of elementary school students arguing without definition and fact, and the other composed of graduate students who offered detailed answers to difficult questions.
Very few Americans have watched all of the debates. I have. It should be an abject embarrassment for the GOP to have witnessed the differences between the two parties. The GOP argued, criticized, and avoided direct and complete answers, while the Democrats offered a complete analysis of the moderator’s questions. All three firmly but respectfully disagreed on many issues; that is a true debate. I am unable to label what the four GOP events can be branded, but debate is not the word.
Not a single candidate was asked a question which would not result in controversy, there were no complaints about the moderators. They frequently disagreed and offered alternatives rather than attacks. It was refreshing to witness intellect vs the use of emotion. A true debate of ideological differences made for interesting discussion.
I believe that the GOP should be ashamed of their offerings for the 2016 presidency. All fifteen have displayed a horrific lack of ability to lead our nation in the 21st century.
The point of a debate is to create thought as the candidates attempt to convince viewers that they have better ideas and are more qualified than their opponents. This was exactly what occurred in Iowa last night. Even the audience displayed more intelligence. They applauded at times, but there were no ‘hoots and hollers’ from those in attendance.
I don’t believe that the GOP takes this election seriously; for them it has become a game. Friday’s tragedy in Paris is indicative of the seriousness of this time in history. We need a great leader to ensure the survival of our nation and its principles.
