GOP Candidates Attempt to Destroy Each Other

Here come the clowns

The clown car has created a deplorable situation for the GOP. It is true that none of the 15 candidates are qualified to lead the free world, but the attacks by each of the presidential wannabees on their brethren is making this campaign season a disgrace. This would not exist if one of the fifteen stood above the rest and actually campaigned on ideas and ceased the attack strategy.

Some may say that they have watched all four of the GOP faux-debates and both by Democrats, but they would most likely be telling a lie. I have, and what I have witnessed is that the GOP is an embarrassment to our nation, and we know exactly where each Democratic candidate stands on the issues.

If we thought that the actual ‘debate’ was a joke, let’s take a look at the ‘under card who were not invited to the ‘big show.’ Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, and Rick Santorum set a new low for political ambition. These four men have an average of 2.5 percent in the polls. Can I ask a logical question? Why do they remain in the race?

This may become confusing, but this is desperation. Bobby Jindal attacked Chris Christie for expanding Medicaid in New Jersey to assist the poor. Rick Santorum stated that better job training for high school graduates would benefit them and the manufacturing industry, which no longer exists inside our shores. Jindal also attacked Huckabee on his economic plan. All of them attempted to offer criticism of Hillary Clinton and her support of the working class.

What they did was remove themselves from contention as they failed to offer any positive alternatives to their constituents or the Democrat’s platform.

The only word to describe the 2016 offering of presidential candidates is ‘sad.’ The GOP candidates of 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 were an embarrassment to the once Grand Old Party, but those for 2016 are a group which is a blight on their party.

It’s not fair to blame the poll leaders, Trump and Carson. They did not take the polls, they simply benefit from the results. Something is drastically wrong with GOP voters. If they truly believe that these two men, who have no knowledge about how government works, and would violate the Constitution if elected, should become our nation’s president, they are the true villains. These are serious times. To be frivolous regarding the future of the world is dangerous. Our nation needs an exceptional man or woman to lead us. The next four years will present extremely difficult situations both internationally and domestically. Experience and intelligence are a must.

As I witness the candidates from the right dismantle each other, I am reminded of small children and their ‘name calling’ in an attempt to ‘hurt each other’s feelings.’ Our nation needs an adult to become the leader of the free world.

The situation created by the GOP candidates is historic; but it’s not good history. The result could be the destruction of the party itself. The actions by those riding in the clown car are representative of occurrences which have been taking place inside the GOP for years. Extremists and moderates have battled for power since 2010. A government cannot function when extremism is the course. Deliberation and compromise create sensible legislation. In a two party system neither will ‘have it their way’ 100 percent of the time.

Weeks ago all of us who write about politics found this situation interesting. It’s no longer laughable.
