Is America Becoming a “Christians Only” Nation?

Christians

Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz are two of the religious extremists who want to tear up the first amendment and make our nation a Christian controlled country. They would reinstate the policies of the Anglican Church; the very reason our founding fathers left England and established a new nation.

Why do the presidential wannabees in the GOP want to change our nation after 239 years?

The Syrian refugee situation is dire. Nations across the world have pledged to allow some into their country. Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz are in unison, with one exception; they would allow only Syrians who are Christians safe refuge.

One of the prime reasons for the establishment of the United States of America was freedom of religion, all religions. It is strictly prohibited to make a single religion the religion of the entire nation. Maybe Bush and Cruz should learn a little American history.

In his speech in Turkey Monday morning, President Obama didn’t call them by name, but he lambasted their prejudice.

“When I hear folks say that maybe we should just admit the Christians but no the Muslims, when I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test for which person who is feeling from a war-torn country is admitted, when some of those folks themselves come from families who benefitted from protection when they were fleeing political persecution, that’s shameful,” Obama said. “That’s not American. That’s not who we are.”

On CBS this morning, Bush once again insisted that there is a ‘radical Islam.’ If there is ‘radical Islam,’ then there must be radical Christianity. The Ku Klux Klan calls themselves Christians. Those who murder abortion doctors and nurses claim that they act according to their Christian faith. No one can claim to be a member of a religious group if they do not believe in the teachings of that organization’s leader. ISIS is not a Muslim organization; it is a group of terrorists who seek world domination. Political leaders, the KKK and others who claim to be Christian cannot be true followers if they don’t follow the commands of Jesus Christ.

Cruz said yesterday that “there is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror.” Really? I just wrote about two groups who kill in the name of Christianity. As for Cruz himself, he supports only the wealthy in America, and lives a life of privilege. He needs to read the Bible, especially the New Testament. Jesus said: “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” And: “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to cast a stone.”

Jesus also warned us not to judge others; this is the right of God alone.

I would never join any religion that did not believe in the teachings of its leader. I would never join any organization when a man would stand on an altar and tell me how I must live my life. I would never be a member of a faith which proffered hate, bigotry, and racism. I would never become a faux-Christian.
