The cowardly attacks on the citizens of Paris Friday night created more than tears for the loss of innocent lives. It inspired a new resolve by all of the world’s people to destroy the evil that is ISIS. Today we learned that Russian investigators discovered proof that the commercial airline flight which went down in Egypt was indeed intentional. Proof of a ‘homemade’ bomb was discovered. Over the last two nights, French and Russian fighters bombed ISIS targets in Syria. This terrorist organization who pretends to be killing innocents for religious reasons has made itself a target for the armies of the world.
It is obvious that all 15 GOP presidential wannabees are unqualified to lead our nation. After Friday night, it is even more obvious that our nation cannot afford to have a leader who has no experience in international relations. Discounting Donald Trump, Ben Carson, and Carly Fiorina, who never been involved in any level of government previously, three overly ambitious and inexperienced candidates stand out. The ‘TEA Party Three’ have accomplished nothing during their terms in the Senate, and this removes them from consideration as the leader of the free world.
Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz are too young and inexperienced to lead a Boy Scout troop. In addition, Rubio fails to perform the job for which he was elected today; he has missed 40 percent of votes taken in the senior body. What could we expect if he was elected to our nation’s highest office? Would he be another George W. Bush and sleep or vacation his way through office?
In a speech intended to focus attention on Paris and the group known as ISIS, Rubio displayed his lack of understanding of both securing information obtained by the NSA and the CIA, and the internet. He supported the Patriot Act which virtually repealed the fourth amendment, and criticized his colleagues for passing the USA Freedom Act in its stead. The latter removed some of the provisions of the Patriot Act which allowed spying on America’s private citizens. He went on to claim that Edward Snowden was a traitor, and that our nation needs the Patriot Act to prevent attacks such as those in Paris. For true ‘freedom-loving’ Americans, Snowden is another whistleblower hero.
First of all, any federal judge would approve an order permitting surveillance if there was even one iota of suspicion that he or she sought harm to our nation. I hear Rubio talk a lot about the Constitution, but he would revoke it if it interfered with his ambitions. Secondly, the difficulty with ISIS is that they use encrypted apps on the internet to communicate, far from the former frequently used methods of communication. He needs to get his ‘facts’ in order.
Rand Paul’s libertarian values often clash with what would be considered ‘good government.’ His views do not support oversight of multiple government agencies, or the private sector. In a free society limits must occasionally be instituted to protect the many from the few.
Ted Cruz is a ‘religious hawk.’ He would place our nation in one or more wars in his first year of office. He lacks the skills to negotiate with both our enemies and our friends. In addition, he admits that he would only represent Christians in America. He extended his prejudice by saying that our nation should only accept Christian refugees from Syria.
The TEA Party has become a blight on our nation and a danger to its future. It has prevented the United States from moving forward into the 21st century.
Experience will be the most important quality possessed by our newly elected president in 2016. Those with too little or none at all must not be allowed to reside in the White House.
