Terrorists do not qualify as human beings. Their sole concern is their own agenda. There is no possible way to justify cowardly attacks on innocent people. The slaughter in Paris Friday night was planned and executed by ISIS. Under the guise of religion, they are a danger to the good people of the world. But they are not the most dangerous terrorist group in the world.
Boko Haram has killed more innocent people than ISIS; but we hear very little about their atrocities. Why? Simple answer; they occur in Africa, the nation of forgotten people.
The Global Terrorism Index reveals that Boko Haram killed 6,644 people in 2014; during the same time period ISIS murdered 6,073. These figures are from terrorist attacks on innocents only. ISIS also killed approximately 20,000 on the battlefield, while Boko Haram killed 6,000 Nigerian forces.
Although the 2014 raid on a boarding school resulted in the capture of 300 young women made headlines around the world, most of the cowardly acts of Boko Haram do not.
This week in the Nigerian city of Yola, customers were purchasing fruits and vegetables in an outside market. A suicide bomber attacked the crowd and 34 people were slaughtered.
On Wednesday in Kano, two explosions killed 15 at a phone market.
Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
Extremist groups such as Al Qaeda, ISIS, and Boko Haram are the great danger to the world. They seek havoc among ordinary people simply because they enjoy killing. Let’s stop all the rhetoric about religious extremists, they do not exist. Whether we discuss Muslims, Christians, or any other faith, those who choose terrorism do not believe in the faith they espouse. They have their own agenda which is in no way related to the religion they claim to follow.
They only way to eradicate these evil men is for the world to unite and kill them before they harm one more innocent. The United States cannot do the job by itself. Hopefully, as former Defense Secretary William Gates said, we have learned from 14 years of warfare in the Middle East that sending our young men and women to die in unwinnable wars is fool hardy.
It’s always easy for Congress to seek military conflict; they are never threatened on the battlefield, and seldom are their sons or daughters. We, the American people, must forbid future rash actions by our government such as the Iraqi invasion from ever occurring again.
