Not that it was needed, but additional corruption in Washington has been discovered by ‘Maplight.’

If you doubt that lobbyists in Washington have removed representation for the working class resulting in a corrupt Congress, you would be terribly wrong. This is a perfect example of a government which fails to legislate for the benefit of the majority of our nation’s citizens.

The Environmental Protection Agency has been attempting to enact tougher legislation upon the coal industry to protect the air quality in the surrounding areas, and further destruction of the ozone layer. Senators who voted against the legislation, according to the wishes of the coal lobby, received donations to their campaigns which were 17 times higher than those who supported the increased restrictions.

Buying votes is common practice, and encouraged by all 535 members of the House and Senate. They bow to the lobbyists who fill their pockets. This has created an oligarchy which fails to be representative of the majority. The working class and poor do not have lobbyists.

The GOP is owned by the wealthy class. Legislation benefitting big business will be passed, while health care, an increase in the minimum wage, and passing sensible immigration reform will be defeated to protect their bloated profits.

America has become a business and no longer is representative of the nation founded by our forefathers.

Our president has term limits; two full terms or ten years if required to serve the final two years of a sitting president. It is only logical that Congress adopts the same. Professional politicians have ruined our government. Complacency and a lack of compassion for those they are supposed to represent is the attitude in Washington as they join the wealthy class.

Politicians have no concern for the American people. The only time they consider the average man or woman is when they seek our votes. Let’s surprise them and vote them all out of office. A revolution is necessary, and this is the way to demonstrate the fact that we want our country back. If a candidate has an ‘I’ for incumbent next to his or her name, vote them out.

You can do it, my fellow Americans; but do you have the courage?
