Is America Leaning towards Fascism?

Despot

Before WWII Nazi Germany required Jews to register with the government. In the United States internment camps were created for Japanese nationals. Today Donald Trump wants to force all Muslims residing in the United States to be documented. He believes that they should be in a database and be tracked throughout the nation.

“I would certainly implement that. Absolutely,” Trump said in Newton, Iowa, in between campaign town halls.

Jeb Bush, who has said some pretty crazy things himself, responded.

“You talk about internment, you talk about closing mosques, you talk about registering people. That’s just wrong. I don’t care about campaigns,” he said on CNBC. “It’s not a question of toughness. It’s to manipulate people’s angst and their fears. That’s not strength, that’s weakness.”

Ibrahim Hooper is the national spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He said: “We’re kind of at a loss for words.”

“What else can you compare this to except to prewar Nazi Germany?” Hooper asked. “There’s no other comparison, and [Trump] seems to think that’s perfectly OK.”

Let’s take a step back from Trump’s insane ideas for a moment and look at the real problem. He continues to rise in the polls. What does that say about some of the people in our country? Are we devolving as a nation?

Yesterday the House voted to restrict immigrants coming to our nation from war-torn Syria. They are afraid that a single terrorist might infiltrate while denying thousands of women and children a new life. Where have compassion and morality gone? I’m afraid that I don’t recognize this country any longer. Fear has replaced common sense, and the future of our nation rests in the balance of returning to American principles or regressing to the time of Eugene McCarthy.

Although I despise every word emitted from Trump’s mouth, I am far more fearful of those who support a man who is racist, bigoted, misogynistic, and just plain un-American.

Sadly Osama Bin Laden succeeded in beginning the destruction of the American life. A weak and immoral administration used the attacks on 9/11 to force our nation’s people to live in fear, resulting in anger and hatred. Distrust of our neighbors resulted from an increase in prejudice, labeling, and suspicion. Our nation was intentionally divided by politicians who continue to use fear to obtain votes. Our nation ceased to be ‘united’ as red and blue states separated our people.

Now some such a Trump and Cruz would move us into a totalitarian state. Dangerous men in dangerous times are taking advantage of an uninformed electorate.

Wake up my fellow Americans; you are becoming nothing more than marionettes and the despots in Washington pull the strings.
