KKK: Christian Terrorists

KKK

In 1866 an American terrorist organization was founded in Tennessee. They were mostly Confederate war veterans, and called themselves Christians. Their sole purpose was to continue the practices of slavery. They created ‘the invisible empire of the south.’ By 1920 the Ku Klux Klan has four million members.

In 1867 blacks began to win state and federal elections in the south. The KKK waged its war against all Republicans, both black and white. They were joined by two other white supremacist groups, the ‘Knights of the White Camelia,’ and the ‘White Brotherhood’ who claimed to be Christians supporting the rights of whites in the south.

They committed acts of violence and harassment against blacks legally elected by voters, and killed at least seven. Records of the murders of blacks are sketchy, but local news services continually reported cases in cities and towns across the south. The closest estimates are that between 1882 and 1968 the KKK lynched 3,446 blacks.

Since 1991 there have been 17 attempts to kill doctors who perform abortions. At least eight clinic workers have been murdered. Those who attempted or succeeded in their attempts called them ‘justified’ because of their Christian beliefs.

Why is any of this important today? The answer is simple; it is to prove to ignorant men such as Ted Cruz that Christian terrorists do exist. We had a perfect example this year in South Carolina when a deranged young man, who could be labeled a terrorist, slaughtered black churchgoers. The junior Senator from Texas and a presidential wannabe suggested that we should only allow Christian Syrian refugees into our nation because there are no Christian terrorists.

Extremism is always dangerous. Thousands of Muslim and Christian extremists are guilty of violence against their fellow human beings. Cruz, himself, is a danger to the American way of life. He would ignore everything which once made us a great nation. In addition he would repeal the first amendment. He seeks to establish Christianity as our national religion, in direct opposition to the will of our forefathers.

Extremists and Terrorists are one and the same. Both are a destructive force to a civilized society. The GOP must find some ‘cojones’ and rid itself of its extremist branch. Whatever they call themselves, the TEA Party, or the Freedom Caucus, they are the reason for gridlock in Washington. They promised their owners that they would never compromise and just say ‘no’ to any proposal by Democrats. They are truly political terrorists.
