Donald Trump is the same person he was when the GOP invited him to speak at their functions during the previous decade. They loved to hear him spew his anger and hatred at Democrats. That is not the case now because he is criticizing his own party and defaming them. What worries me about the Trump campaign is not the presidential wannabee himself; his supporters represent the worst of Americans. They support hatred, racism and bigotry. No longer can the GOP deny that this is their base.
In addition, some of his proposals are as rash as the decisions made by George W. Bush, and why terrorist groups have grown in numbers because of the actions of Bush and the words of a buffoon. Trump has removed himself from the right to be called an American. He lacks every quality which once composed a nation inhabited with great people with great courage.
He has called for Muslims to register in a data base, allowing our government to track them. This is the same method Hitler used before WWII as he planned to eradicate the Jews. He is suggesting that our intelligence agencies reinstitute torture methods advocated and encouraged by Dick Cheney when he was in office. He would deport over 11 million undocumented workers. In addition he made the claim Sunday that he saw Muslims cheering as the towers fell on 9/11.
“There were people that [sic] were cheering in [sic] the other side of New Jersey where you have large Arab populations,” Trump declared. “They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down.”
Calling Trump a fascist would demean fascists. His ignorance suggests that torture is effective; just more proof he doesn’t read and doesn’t understand history. Even worse he denies the experts, instead favoring his own preposterous fantasies.
For Trump all Hispanics are rapists and murderers. All men, women, and children who are followers of Islam are terrorists. Once again, the sad revelation is that he has supporters. The only possible reason is because they share his lack of values. Charisma is not a word which describes Trump. He doesn’t speak in intelligible sentences. Any time he does speak about an actual issue, he proves that he simply ‘doesn’t know what he is talking about.’
The fact that he has supporters is more proof that America is on the decline, following the path of ancient Rome. There are millions of people living in America who do not believe in American principles. Their goal is to revise the Constitution for their own personal ambitions. They denounce equal protection under the law; they seek to eliminate the first amendment which both prevents a national religion, and guarantees all Americans the right to vote. They have already succeeded in repealing much of the fourth amendment.
These same residents support a political party which supports only one-percent of the American people. They support extremism and those who have destroyed our democracy. When evil thoughts and emotions permeate the minds of a nation’s citizens, that nation has reached a point of no return. Its demise is guaranteed and its root is ambition and greed.
I have taken the same oath which is required of our legislators in Washington many times; I have given it many times. In that oath they promise to uphold the Constitution and represent all of the American people. That oath is now merely a nursery rhyme with no meaning.
If Trump is symbolic of a large number of our nation’s people, the United States of America no longer exists.
