TEA Party Governor Scott Cuts Jobs in Florida

Rick Scott

Florida Governor Rick Scott will once again fail his constituents, as other TEA Party governors have before him. The only item which is important to Scott and his ilk is money; they have no compassion for people. He has proposed a new state budget totaling $79.3 billion. His plan cuts taxes by one billion dollars, and says it will aid schools. It also removes approximately 1,000 jobs from the state’s workforce.

His proposal will have difficulty in the legislature which disagrees with the governor about how to stimulate the state’s economy. Corporations will receive the benefit of his tax cuts, and this sets up a battle with lawmakers.

Recently Scott refused the Medicaid extension attached to the Affordable Care Act. It would have given assistance to 800,000 poor Floridians. However, he filed a lawsuit against the federal government for removing funds for the state hospital’s low income pool. The government agreed to continue the program for two years at about one-half of the amount previously provided to the state.

It should be noted here that prior to entering politics, Scott ran a for profit health care company. He opposes the Affordable Care Act.

Once again I must ask; do voters understand who and what they are voting for in an election? How many lies does it take to convince voters to cast their ballot for an individual because he or she has an ‘R’ next to their name? In Scott’s case the letter should have been a ‘T’ for TEA Party. In no way does he resemble a true Republican.

All I can say to the people of Florida is ‘you get what you vote for,’ and “good night and good luck.”
