Why Palin?

Seth Meyers

I couldn’t understand why Sarah Palin or “Caribou Barbie” was on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers.’ She is a nobody, doesn’t have a movie coming out, and sure as hell isn’t funny. She was promoting another bunch of gibberish she calls a book.

She obviously underestimated Mr. Meyers whose wit is matched by his intellect.

The presidential candidates have been making the rounds of the late night talk shows, and because Palin was once a political figure, (big mistake by McCain), he treated her as such. Because she continues to offer her opinions, asked for or not, she was fair game.

At first he soft-peddled her questions about the upcoming election and her appearance on SNL’s 40th anniversary show. Then he asked her about the Syrian refugee situation and if she believed it was dominated by fear. Her first response was expected; ‘it’s the government’s fault.’ Meyers continued to press her with excellent questions until she began to babble about freedom. She finally admitted that yes, most of the refugees were not members of ISIS.

Seth Meyers deserves praise for straying from the typical late-night format and asking Palin forthright questions about a subject which she has frequently spoken.

Palin is of no importance to our nation and its political system. She was merely a huge mistake which lost McCain a chance at the presidency. The media should not present an opportunity for her to voice her unwanted and prejudiced opinions about what occurs in our government.

Some on the right are certain to criticize Mr. Meyers for his straightforward questioning of Palin, and that would be unfair. She presents herself as a political expert, and therefore is fair game.

Conservatives are quick to judge and slow to offer solutions; they have none. They have used fear tactics for 14 years to earn seats in the House and Senate. It’s past time to expose them and their ploys.
