It’s only fair. Muslim women can easily be identified because of their clothing, but we don’t know if anyone is a Christian; there are no visible markings or unusual garments.
Kameelah Rasheed is a 30-year-old Muslim woman. A couple of days ago she attempted to board a Lufthansa flight from Newark to Istanbul. After passing through TSA screening, she was allowed to board the aircraft. Before the plane departed, she was removed and questioned for two-and-one-half hours by the FBI. Her only crime; wearing traditional Muslim attire. She says she was humiliated and doubts that she will ever attempt to travel on a commercial aircraft in the future. She is certain that she was singled out because of bigotry and prejudice.
When Christian whites commit heinous crimes against innocent people, the right wing calls them ‘lone-wolf’ extremists, not terrorists. Anytime an assault by a Muslim individual occurs, that person is immediately labeled a terrorist by conservatives. FOX Noise, and presidential candidate Ted Cruz claim that there are no Christian terrorists. Let’s debunk these false claims.
First, let’s list eight Christian terrorist organizations who equal the hatred and violent actions of groups such as ISIS.
The ‘Lord’s Resistance Army’ is originally from Uganda, but now operates in the Sudan. They call themselves a Christian Fundamentalist organization. They specialize in kidnappings, railroading young boys into fighting while forcing young girls into sexual slavery. The girls become ‘brides’ for the fighters.
The ‘Ku Klux Klan’ describes themselves as ‘Protestants,’ and have waged physical and psychological warfare against Catholics, Jews, and blacks since the 1860’s.
The ‘National Liberation Front of Tripura’ operates in India. They claim that their goal is to “to expand the kingdom of God and Christ in Tripura.” Their methods involve the use of guns, and include at least two massacres of Hindus. They frequently use rape as a form of intimidation. They are supported by a Baptist Church who reportedly sells them guns.
The ‘Aryan Nations’ is composed of whites and Christian supremacists. Its origin is unknown. They act with violence and intimidation against blacks and all others who do not believe in their mission.
‘The Christian Identity Movement’ has been in existence for approximately 95 years. It is composed of several affiliated Christian terrorist organizations. It claims that its purpose is to prepare for the second coming, and therefore the cleansing of non-believers. They denounce non-whites because they believe they do not have souls.
There are others throughout the world including the ‘Orange Volunteers,’ the ‘Catholic Reaction Force/Protestant Action Force,’ ‘Antibalaka,’ and the ‘IRA.’
Killing under the guise of religious fanaticism is not a recent world development. More wars have been fought with at least one side professing a basis of religious belief for their actions, than for any other single reason.
Atrocities committed in the name of Christianity are as ignorant and vile as those committed by Muslim extremists. For example; obviously mistaking Sikhs for Muslims, Christian white supremacist Wade Michael Page attacked a temple on August 5, 2012. He was armed with an automatic weapon and killed six innocent people.
On July 27, 2008, Christian Right sympathizer Jim David Adkisson entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. As children were playing, he began shooting at random targets. He killed two and wounded seven. He claimed his actions were inspired by his hatred for liberals, all Democrats, and gays.
I believe that true followers of Islam deserve an apology from FOX Noise and Ted Cruz; but I doubt that it will come. FOX defends itself, even when telling blatant lies. As for Cruz, his ignorance is only surpassed by his arrogance.
