“Well, we’ll see what happens,” said Trump, who leads his 12 GOP rivals — including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — in the Real Clear Politics average of national polls. “It will be very interesting. But I’m leading every poll by a lot. It’s not even a little bit anymore — it’s a lot.”
This statement was made in rebuttal to a report regarding Donald Trump’s hints that he may run as a third party candidate. On September third, Trump surrendered to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and signed a pledge not to challenge the GOP nominee, and support the individual without question. Trump made one stipulation; he demanded to receive fair treatment from others in the party.
Last week, the Wall Street Journal published a report saying members of the Republican establishment are uniting to form a “guerrilla campaign” supported by secret donors to “defeat and destroy” Trump’s campaign.
In the recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, Trump is leading with 32 percent to Ben Carson’s 22 percent. In third place is Marco Rubio with a mere 11 percent, followed by Ted Cruz with eight percent.
Although Trump is far ahead in the national poll, he may not fare so well in the Iowa Caucuses on February first. A strong evangelical block supported Rick Santorum in 2012, and gives hope to Ted Cruz for a victory.
Why is the GOP leadership so afraid of a Trump nomination? There are multiple reasons, but the overlying truth is that he has exposed the real GOP; a party composed of racists, bigots, and a party which supports only the wealthiest of Americans. The second frightening fact for the GOP is that he could not win against Hillary Clinton.
It will be interesting to see how well new efforts work to derail Trump. Its first effort was during the first GOP debate hosted by FOX Noise. Priebus conspired with FOX President Roger Ailes to ruin Trump’s campaign. It became obvious from the first question by FOX’s faux-journalists that this was not going to be a debate; it would be an all-out attack directed towards Trump. The next morning Trump’s poll numbers received an upward bump. GOP efforts actually assisted the Trump campaign.
It seems that Trump can tell lies about past events, attack Hispanic leaders, mimic a disabled newsman, and make statements diametrically opposed to American principles, and his poll numbers never move in a downward direction.
Mainstream GOP voters have consistently says that Trump ‘tells it like it is.’ For me this exhibits the disdain they have for the other 13 presidential wannabees. Let’s just look at the top three behind Trump.
Donald Carson is a retired neurosurgeon who has no experience in government or business. His statements have proven that he may be educated, but is also an ignorant man. He denies science, makes up stories about the pyramids, and his personal life, while offering a tax plan he couldn’t explain and when analyzed by experts would bankrupt America once again.
Marco Rubio is nothing more than a well-spoken young man. That’s it. He has no qualifications, no accomplishments which qualify him to lead our nation. He has proven by personal records that he lacks the ability to establish financial stability. The fact that he has failed to vote in the Senate 40 percent of the time since he began his campaign, reveals his true goal; and that is not to serve all of the American people.
Ted Cruz has many enemies, including this writer. He is so far to the right he is always wrong. Members of his own party have criticized him for his extremist views; John Boehner called him a ‘jackass’ on national television. Not only is he a political extremist, he is a religious extremist whose base is the Christian religious right. Recently he made one of the most moronic statements in the campaign season; he said that we should only allow ‘Christian Syrian refugees inside our shores; there are no Christian terrorists.’ Simply read my article titled “Christians Must Wear Labels.”
Trump’s strength makes the GOP weaker. Only Trump can ruin Trump’s campaign. Previous attempts by ‘the Donald’ himself have only made him more favorable to the electorate.
