Assumptions are not Facts

Dems 2016

I recently read an article in the Huff Post Blog by H.A. Goodman. In it he makes the claim that if Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination, 14 percent of Democrats will not vote for her. His reasons are understandable; her close ties with Wall Street; her support for the invasion of Iraq; and there remain questions about her honesty and trustworthiness.

I am an Independent, and I favor Bernie Sanders. However I strongly believe that Ms. Clinton will win the nomination; and I will certainly vote for her before I would vote for any passenger in the clown car. I am positive that most of the 14 percent who state their opposition to Ms. Clinton would do the same. How could any sane person vote for someone who would destroy what’s left of our nation? Serious domestic and foreign issues must be resolved, and none of the candidates on the right have the intelligence or ability to solve our nation’s problems.

If you are one of the 99 percent you know that a member of the party which does not represent you and your family must not move into the White House in January 2017.

Mr. Goodman speculates a low Democratic voter turnout if Hillary Clinton receives the nomination. I believe that no matter who the party’s nominee is, a rush to the polls will occur a year from now. For many it may be a vote against the GOP candidate rather than a vote for Ms. Clinton or Senator Sanders, but they will vote. For the working class there is no more important issue than income inequality, followed closely by education. None of the GOP candidates have concern for either.

The GOP will attempt to take focus away from domestic issues by using ISIS and national security as a scare tactic. However, they know nothing about foreign relations and would put our nation in peril. ISIS will be defeated, and there is no justifiable reason for any normal thinking American to doubt that fact. They are not an immediate threat to our nation. Our people have come to the realization post 9/11 that an attack against our nation internally is a possibility, but the responsibility for preventing such a tragedy lies with our government and law enforcement.

Right wing politicians want to force the American people to live in constant fear; it’s a method of control.

We must focus on what needs to be changed within our nation. We must not experience another government-caused recession. We must insure that our working men and women receive a fair wage for a job well-done. We must care more about our people than big business and offer universal healthcare which works for everyone. We must focus on revamping our educational system and make our youth competitive in the world once more. We must put the majority of our nation’s people at the forefront of all legislation, and eliminate lobbyists and therefor special interests from controlling the decisions made in Congress. We must protect the Constitution from religious fanatics, racists, and bigots.
