Republicans Pander to Base and Lose Elections

the Turtle

We know one thing for certain, the GOP does not listen to voters, and relies solely on its ‘base’ to win elections. Although this tactic did not work in 2008 and 2012, why not try it one more time?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Although the Affordable Care Act is not perfect, it has received the approval of the American people, but once again the GOP controlled Senate is attempting to dismantle the law. In addition they will vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Instead of praising a valuable organization which has provided health services for millions of low-income and poor women over decades, they want to destroy something which is beneficial to a group they simply do not care about.

Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the RNC, promised that after their 2012 loss they would reach out to other demographics. With Donald Trump leading the party, they are moving in the opposite direction.

Every word in Mitch McConnell’s statement about the Affordable Care Act is fallacious or misleading.

“It’s defined by failure,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said of the law, blaming it for rising medical costs and citing problems encountered by Kentuckians. “It’s punctuated with hopelessness. And the scale of its many broken promises is matched only by the scale of its defenders’ rigid and unfeeling responses to them.”

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid jibed at the GOP, noting that because the President has promised to veto any legislation related to the Affordable Care Act and Planned Parenthood, McConnell’s efforts are a waste of time and taxpayer’s money.

“Do they bother to talk to their constituents?” Reid said of GOP lawmakers.

Why should they start talking to their opponents on the left side of the aisle now? They haven’t done it for seven years.

GOP politicians are digging an ever deeper hole for themselves in 2016. They oppose more than 90 percent of the American people. They continue to be the party of old, rich, white men.

A lack of courageous leadership has eliminated the once Grand Old Party. Greed and ambition have replaced men who once had ideas and were willing to achieve their goals through deliberation and compromise.
