Instead of compassion, Republicans, led by TEA Party darling Ted Cruz, shot guns and held a second amendment rally. Cruz said that if those murdered in San Bernardino had guns, they would remain alive today.

Not only is this insensitive, he is playing on the emotions of the weak-minded once again. Hiding behind the second amendment has become a bad joke. This is the most poorly written section of the Bill of Right. The history of how it came to be included in the Constitution revolves around southern slave owners. It was written to insure that only the masters could have guns, and that slaves would be prevented from possessing them. Qualifying the second amendment would not remove it, it would simply update it.

The GOP continues to deny facts and control their base with lies and emotional baggage. Not a single American citizen has the necessity to own an assault rifle with high-output magazines. There is no valid argument against background checks for all gun sales. A small inconvenience cannot have priority over human life.

Cruz denied the reality that 14 innocent people were slaughtered. When asked if he was being insensitive by holding the rally, this was his response.

“Folks in the media ask on behalf of Democrats, ‘isn’t it insensitive to do a Second Amendment rally after the shooting.’ I really don’t view our job as being sensitive to Islamic terrorists.” Then he went on to blame California’s gun laws for the attack. Does this shameful person sound presidential?

Never one to speak the truth, Cruz claims that Christian terrorists are in the past. Not only is he denying that the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Brotherhood continue to commit hate crimes in our nation under the guise of Christianity, he claims that ‘he has never known a violent anti-abortionist. He is also ignoring ‘The Lord’s Resistance Army’ in the Sudan; the ‘National Liberation Front of Tripura’ in India; the ‘Catholic Reaction Force/Protestant Action Force’ in Ireland; and ‘The Christian Identity Movement’ in the United States. These groups are as heinous as ISIS, but not as transparent.

Other statements by Cruz prove that he is crazy and proof that he would not represent all of America. Denying the need for Planned Parenthood, he asked “is there a shortage of rubbers?” When the matter of three lives lost in Colorado when a Christian terrorist attacked a Planned Parenthood was discussed, Cruz suggested that the killer may have been a “transgendered leftist activist.”

This is the self-aggrandized version of Ted Cruz: “For a long time, the left has had two caricatures of conservatives: that we are either stupid or evil. I take it as a backhanded compliment that they have, to some extent, invented a third category for me: ‘crazy.’”

And ‘crazy’ he is. He is so far to the right that he is just like Rush Limbaugh; he’s always wrong.

Cruz joins other extremists and cannot claim to be an American. He does not possess any of the qualities or morality of a true patriot. Our nation was not created to serve the wealthy and special interests. Our forefathers named it the ‘United States of America,’ with the intent that all of our nation’s people would be free and their individual rights protected. Serving the NRA means that 90 percent of Americans are forced to feel less safe while the gun manufacturer and gun seller lobby controls Cruz and his ilk.

You are a black spot on the heart of America Senator Cruz, and you must be removed to begin the healing of our nation.
