Doing things over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. No one ever said that the members of the GOP were the ‘sharpest tools in the shed,’ but this is getting ridiculous. The GOP controlled House has attempted to repeal the Affordable Care Act more than 50 times, with the same failed results. Now the GOP Congress and GOP governors are attempting the same with Planned Parenthood.

The attack on Planned Parenthood is bogus; to put it simply. The GOP is telling lies about its primary function and where it receives funding. They are lying to their supporters and claiming that Planned Parenthood is all about abortion. Although it is an organization which can terminate pregnancies for low-income and poor women, it’s main purpose is to aid women who have problems with their reproductive system. Total funding for all clinics is just over $500 million, and since 1976 the only federal funds used for abortions are in the event of rape or incest. Private donations compose the majority of its funding.

An example of the foolhardy acts by members of the GOP is the Arizona State legislature. Since Arizona moved into the south, it has made continuous efforts to violate the Constitution and deny the authority of the Supreme Court.

Senate President Andy Biggs announced that the GOP controlled state legislature will once again attempt to block all funding for Planned Parenthood in Arizona. This action will occur in direct opposition to a 2014 Supreme Court decision stating that defunding the organization would be in violation of Medicaid by preventing the free choice of women seeking medical assistance.

This is another blatant attack on low-income and poor women, primarily minorities. The issue is not women’s health or even abortion, it’s pure racism.

“I think that there are ways to get at it and that’s what we are going to be trying to do,” Biggs said. “The second component of the measure we’re talking about is the prevention of their practices with regard to the abuse of the aborted babies – the bodies and body parts and trafficking in that.”

This is another entirely false statement. Planned Parenthood is no more involved in the trafficking of ‘baby body parts’ than a teaching hospital or former neurosurgeon and presidential wannabee Ben Carson, who acted in a similar manner.

When will GOP voters regain their intelligence and realize that they are constantly being lied to? The right wing no longer deals in facts, it deals in lies which create fear and anger; two emotions which weaken individuals and finally the nation. Will they ever permanently turn off FOX Noise and refuse to be controlled by the GOP propaganda machine? Have they retained enough brain cells to search for the truth and make decisions based on the results? Isn’t it time that the only GOP strategy of attack, attack, attack be revealed for what it is; misleading to the uninformed?

America must witness a return of the Republican Party. Our nation functions best when our government engages in intelligent and thoughtful deliberation, often reaching compromise which would be beneficial to the American people. The exchange of ideas made our country great once, but can it happen again?

The party of ‘no’ must be erased.
