Rand Paul Talks about less Spending, but Refuses to Raise Taxes

Paul

I am uncertain as to why I continue to talk about Kentucky’s junior Senator Rand Paul; he is polling at just 2.7 percent. Maybe it’s because he is alone among the passengers in the clown car; he occasionally makes sense and talks about issues rather than embarrassing himself by attacking everyone else in the presidential field.

Because of his poll numbers Paul may not be on the main stage Tuesday when the GOP holds another debate. GOP ‘leadership’ will likely be pleased; it doesn’t want any of its ‘candidates’ to be involved with the issues. He says that if he is not on the platform no ‘fiscal conservative’ will be represented.

Paul believes in reducing the deficit by cutting programs for needy Americans. Although our nation’s wisest economists believe that our nation must realize that tax increases are necessary, and loopholes for corporations and the wealthy must be eliminated, Paul is against any and all tax increases.

The one area of economics where he uses common sense is military spending. He believes that the Defense Department’s budget must be cut. This, alone, has him at odds with the hawks in the GOP including Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz.

I do admire Paul for ‘sticking to his guns.’ I rarely agree with him on the issues, but I prefer him to the others who continually pander and ‘flip-flop.’ With the emergence of Donald Trump, who receives most of the major media’s attention, candidates such as Paul are not being heard. In addition, the GOP debates are too large, moderated by faux-journalists who have no qualifications to ask intelligent questions, and often resemble the politics of South American countries.

A statement is being made not by the GOP presidential wannabees, but by voters. They simply do not like what is being offered. They have chosen to support a racist and bigoted man instead of the lackluster dozen chasing him in the polls.

Rand Paul is too inexperienced to have a plan to improve the lives of America’s people; but at least he is saying something.
