In early November, 2014, Speaker of the House, John Boehner, and new Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, held a press conference and promised that Congress would get back to work and perform the jobs for which they were elected. Empty words.
The resignation of John Boehner was the direct result of an extremist group numbering only 40 individuals. The Speaker’s weak leadership allowed a group of TEA Party obstructionists who were ashamed of that name, and now call themselves the ‘Freedom Caucus,’ to disrupt and misdirect the nation’s government.
Although some necessary legislation was passed, the most important issues were ignored. The efforts to pass these necessary bills came from the Senate in a bipartisan effort, but the inexperienced members of the House continue to fail the American people.
With the GOP in control of Congress, the promise of a more effective government has not come to fruition. There is a very simple reason for this; Republicans have no leadership.
The positioning of Paul Ryan as the new Speaker has had no effect or the traitors who now call themselves the ‘Freedom Caucus.’ Yes, they are traitors because they are serving their owners and are failing to keep their oath of office. They have no interest in serving the American people.
The GOP is in total disarray, and the only solution is to split into two parties; Republicans and the TEA Party. Forty-two percent of GOP voters are expressing their disapproval and supporting a man who has no qualifications to lead our nation and is openly racist and bigoted. The failure of the GOP to effectively govern our nation has created a disdain for all government. Its offerings of 13 inept politicians to be our next president is an embarrassment to the party and the nation. Labeling them the ‘clown car’ is fair and accurate.
Debate: “A discussion, esp. one in which several people with different opinions about something discuss them seriously, or the process of discussing something.” This is how the Cambridge Dictionary defines ‘debate.’ Does this resemble the gatherings of GOP contenders in any manner?
Accusation: “A statement saying that someone has done something morally wrong, illegal, or unkind, or the fact of accusing someone.” This is what they do; this is the only way they know how to act.
This small group of obstructionists has destroyed the Republican Party. It does not exist as a deliberative body which acts in the best interests of every citizen of the United States. Its failure to compromise and pass legislation which affects the majority instead of special interests is moving our nation towards destruction.
I am calling for a record voter turnout in November 2016. We must remove the TEA Party, or Freedom Caucus, whoever they claim to be, now. Our nation cannot exist without two working parties; and these parties must work together to solve our nation’s domestic issues.
In its present state the GOP cannot survive. New and effective leaders must step forward and take firm control of the once Grand Old Party. Reince Priebus, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan must be removed from their positions and new, competent men or women installed in their stead.
