Reagan Would Be Ashamed of ‘Republicans’ Today

Reagan

History has proven that Ronald Reagan was not a great president. His accomplishments were balanced with egregious damage to the working class. But don’t tell that to today’s Republicans; to them he was a ‘god.’

If they idolize him, why don’t they perform in a manner similar to our 40th president?

Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, has strong opinions about today’s GOP.

“It may be this week [Ted Cruz is] doing it more than the others,” Patti Davis says, “but they all kind of do it. But yet, they are so not like him. My father would be so appalled at what’s going on. He would be so appalled at these candidates. I don’t think he would be a Republican.”

She also spoke about his concerns about the lack of gun control in our nation.

“I don’t think he’d ever be able to conceive what’s going on now,” Davis says, “the amount of gun violence or weaponry.”

Ms. Davis was asked about Nancy Reagan, who is now 94, and her opinions about the present state of the Republican Party. She says that they don’t converse about politics very often, but that she does believe that Ms. Reagan does not believe that the current crop of candidates is ‘presidential.’

In truth, there is absolutely no resemblance to the Republican Party of 27 years ago. After the administration of George H.W. Bush, the GOP began its change into a party of obstructionism. With the advent of the Koch brother’s TEA Party in 2010, it became the party of ‘no.’

Not only would Ronald Reagan disapprove of today’s Republicans, Dwight Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln would undoubtedly feel the same.

Today’s extremists fail to follow the lead of ‘Bush 41.’ He worked across party lines to accomplish what was necessary and beneficial for all Americans. He displayed intellect mixed with compassion. He was true to his Republican principles, but the people of our nation took precedent over his party.

The truth be told; the Republican Party does not exist today. It has been infiltrated by ambitious men and women who seek public office for their own ambitions. They have no positive ideas for the betterment of our nation’s people, they seek destruction, and the elimination of the middle class. They are unprincipled and immoral.

There is no doubt that Ronald Reagan has turned face-down in his casket.
