Congress Gave Away Your Christmas to Special Interests

Capitol

The only thing I can promise you is that our government will continue to work harder to give your money away to special interests in 2016. They do not represent the American people in any manner. This year Congress gave huge gifts to corporations and the wealthy, and nothing to the working class who pay their bloated salaries and benefits.

Congress passed the ‘tax and spending’ bill earlier this month. Extremist representatives of the Republican Party, such as Rush Limbaugh, denounced the legislation, claiming it gave Democrats everything they wanted. Really?

In truth, the Republican led Congress gave tax breaks to campaign donors and corporations, while misleading the American public about its intentions.

Government watchdogs said the following:

“Many lawmakers described this bill as the beginning of tax reform. It’s not. It’s just more calculated gift exchanges between lawmakers who need donations to stay in office and those who finance them.”

Just a few examples.

Number one is the continuation of a secretive policy which allows corporations to donate unlimited money to campaign funds without disclosing their identity.

Second is the approval of tax breaks for corporate ‘research and development.’ Over 10 years, large corporations with receive 113.2 billion dollars in tax incentives. A family of four will experience a 12 dollar per month tax increase for those same years to pay for the tax breaks.

Third; multinational corporations will receive 78 billion dollars and encourage them to siphon profits from the United States and place them in tax havens around the world. This will cost another eight dollars per month to those who pay taxes.

I could list more, but the facts are too disgusting. You can read them on the link, if you have the stomach.

In addition, those you elected gave $650 billion dollars to the Pentagon which will waste half of it, and fail to make our nation safer while concentrating on warfare thousands of miles away.

So, don’t forget your thank-you notes to your state’s Representatives and Senators. They love their owners and despise voters. Remember that in November.
