TEA Party Darlings Pander on Policy

Politicians

Do Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have anything in common? Not much, with the exception of the fact that they are both employees of the Koch brothers, and owe their loyalty to them, as well as their ability to pander to an audience.

Recent actions by both first term Senators make it apparent that they believe the battle for the GOP nomination will be between the two of them. They join others in the party who believe that Donald Trump will eventually self-destruct, as efforts by Republican ‘leaders’ have failed to derail him.

The attacks are on. Rubio has been accusing Cruz of vacillating on issues he claims to support. On a New Hampshire radio show, he said that Cruz “has shown throughout his career that he’s been calculating in his position on some issues,” including immigration. The Texas Republican, Rubio added: Cruz “has been tempered by the political winds.” Rubio has also attacked his TEA Party constituent regarding national security and the changes to the unconstitutional Patriot Act.

The problem here is that Rubio is the greater panderer. He fails to believe that voters have memories. In 2013 he was a member of the ‘gang of eight.’ Rubio participated in a landmark effort to fashion a bill establishing comprehensive immigration reform; it remains his only accomplishment in the Senate. During negotiations, he rejected Republican stipulations which would have moved the bill farther to the right.

After its completion, Rubio denounced the agreement, and urged the House to vote against the bill. His reasoning; to satisfy the Republican base.

Here’s the final truth; neither Cruz nor Rubio has a strong position on the important issues. Neither man is qualified to lead our nation. Neither man has accomplished significant legislation in their short tenure, which would positively affect the majority of Americans.

Cruz is destructive, and opposes the principles of our founding fathers. He is a religious extremist who seeks to violate the Constitution in support of the Christian religious right lobby.

Rubio has been labeled as ‘lazy,’ and lacking in charisma which would encourage GOP voters to support his candidacy. He has missed nearly 40 percent of votes in the Senate, and has revealed a lackadaisical campaign effort.

Meanwhile, the front runner continues to rise in the polls. Can either of these young and unqualified presidential wannabees win caucuses and primaries, or will Trump become the GOP nominee?

Trump has a singular advantage; he speaks about issues. Few Americans agree with his positions, but he is saying something. He meshes attacks with unsubstantiated claims that he can fix our government.

The only ‘issue’ the other candidates consider is ISIS. They have offered no opinions regarding the most important issues, which are all on the domestic front. The truth is that they reject the needs and wishes of the American people and continue to support special interests regarding income inequality, the disintegration of the middle class, education, women’s rights, freedom of religion, immigration reform, and others. They will continue to seek the passage of legislation which is advantageous for the wealthy and major corporations; their owners.

While Cruz and Rubio attempt to destroy each other, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are speaking to the majority of Americans; the working class.

Senator Sanders was in Northern Nevada Sunday. A filled arena cheered him and demonstrated complete support for his ideas which would positively affect the majority of our nation’s people.

Cruz and Rubio continue in their failure to inspire.
