I am finally, and adamantly declaring that the GOP presidential candidates are ignorant and should not be in consideration for our nation’s highest office. They continue to play the ‘Donald Trump Game.’ They spend the majority of their time on the campaign trail attempting to defeat ‘the Donald.’ Every time the GOP attempts to derail him, Trump’s numbers rise in the polls.
They just don’t get it; the only way to defeat Trump is to ignore him and campaign on the important issues facing our nation. Not a single GOP presidential wannabee has learned the fact that they must stand on their own, and offer the American people something positive to believe in.
Luther Stan Pate IV is an extremely wealthy Alabama real estate developer. He began his support for Marco Rubio before the junior Senator from Florida declared his candidacy. He decided to show his support by attacking Trump during the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. He hired a ‘skywriter’ to pass over the stadium spelling out “ANYBODY BUT TRUMP.” Okay, I know he’s from Alabama, and may not be the ‘sharpest tool in the shed,’ but a positive statement about Rubio would have been far more productive.
Trump is winning. His rivals just don’t get it. He is not a very intelligent man, but he is simply ‘outsmarting’ his opponents. Their lack of tactics, which might actually cause a positive reaction from voters, are the reason why Trump is not achieving his goals, he is being ‘pushed’ into the nomination by voters disgusted with the status quo on Washington.
GOP leaders would like everyone to believe that Trump is the destructive force within the party; nothing could be further from the truth. The implosion of the party began years ago and Trump is simply the result of failed leadership.
It is obvious to me that Ted Cruz will win in Iowa. He is a Christian religious extremist who appeals to evangelists in a similar fashion to Rick Santorum in 2012. He has also downplayed Trump’s vile rhetoric. But, make no mistake about it; Cruz equals Trump’s radical and moronic beliefs and, like Trump, is not a real representative of the Republican Party. But Trump may win the other three events in February, and that will signal defeat for his challengers.
The GOP has yet to hold a debate. Voters have no idea what the candidates believe in or the base of their platforms. They have been embarrassing attempts to either derail Trump or level attacks against each other in personal matters.
I, too, am disappointed with the offerings of the GOP. I had hoped that the 2016 campaign would offer at least one candidate who would speak to the American people. The twelve remaining wannabees are less qualified than ‘McCain-Palin,’ or Romney.
Okay, I am the eternal optimist, and it’s difficult to remove my hope for America’s future. But, if the GOP of today is the future of our nation, all optimism is lost.
Independents, such as myself, vet the candidates for whom we vote. My ballot was often split between parties. I can’t make the claim that this will occur next November.
