Ted Cruz is good at one thing; spinning the truth. After President Obama informed the American people that he was issuing an executive order to curtail illegal gun trafficking, Cruz began to lie to the American people. Although the majority of all Americans favor the proposals of Mr. Obama, he has stated that he doesn’t care about the safety of innocent Americans; he supports his campaign contributor, the NRA gun lobby.
Cruz is continuing the GOP mantra; he is ignoring facts and therefore reality. He will never admit that the United States is the most violent nation in the world, and the only developed nation which suffers from daily gun violence.
Who will Cruz support if he were to be elected as your president? It certainly will not be the people of our nation. He has no concern for the well-being of all Americans. His loyalties are to the Koch brothers, the NRA, the Christian religious right, and other special interests.
Talking about the President and his executive action: “Look, he’s targeting private consensual gun sales between law-abiding citizens and this is what Obama gets wrong over and over again … he can’t distinguish between what good guys and bad guys,” said Cruz.
This is pure nonsense and is incoherent. The President truthfully said that his order will not stop all gun violence, but if it saves one life, the effort was successful. Is Cruz making the claim that he knows every ‘good guy,’ and every ‘bad guy’ in our nation. I believe that Cruz is a very dangerous man whose ambitions exceed any desire to serve all of the American people.
In his announcement, President Obama stated directly that he supports the second amendment and that nobody wants to take guns away from law-abiding citizens. But Ted Cruz is in denial once again; he claims that Mr. Obama is attempting to cease the purchase of guns.
“It is actually quite accurate. This is the most anti-gun president we’ve ever seen,” Cruz said.
Once again, Cruz proves that he knows nothing about our nation’s history. After an attempted assassination attempt which grievously injured his press secretary, the Republican demagogue, Ronald Reagan, gave his support to new gun regulations.
“I’m a member of the NRA. And my position on the right to bear arms is well known. But I support the Brady bill and I urge the Congress to enact it without delay. It’s just plain common sense that there be a waiting period [7 days] to allow local law enforcement officials to conduct background checks on those who wish to buy a handgun.”
George H.W. Bush believed that sensible gun laws should be enacted and enforced.
“It starts with enforcing the law. We need to say loud and clear to somebody, if you’re going to carry a gun illegally, we’re going to arrest you, if you’re going to sell a gun illegally you need to be arrested, and if you commit a crime with a gun there needs to be absolutely certainty in the law. The local law enforcement officials need help at the federal level. Need programs like Project Exile, where the federal government intensifies arresting people who illegally use guns. And we haven’t done a very good job of that at the federal level recently. And I’m going to make it a priority.
“Secondly, I don’t think we ought to be selling guns to people who shouldn’t have them. That’s why I support instant background checks at gun shows. There’s a lot of talk about trigger locks being on guns sold in the future, I support that, and so we’re distributing them in our state of Texas for free. I think we ought to raise the age at which a juvenile can carry a handgun from 18 to 21.”
Cruz is on the wrong side once again, but it is to be expected; Cruz has no similarity to Republicans who had ideas and principles. He can be labeled an ‘opportunistic politician,’ and nothing more.
