Ted Cruz just finished a six-day bus tour in Iowa. His message had little substance, but more importantly, when he was confronted with the truth, and issues he couldn’t defend, he revealed his support for special interests while ignoring the working class.
As Cruz was leaving his last town hall meeting, he was confronted by the last man leaving the room. Fortunately, the media had remained, and Cruz was forced to answer questions he sought to avoid.
The ‘Renewable Fuels Standard’ requires the use of 10 percent renewable fuels. Iowa is the largest corn-producing state in the nation. The last voter in the room asked if he would vote against renewing the bill when it expires in 2022. Cruz said he doesn’t ‘hate corn,’ but yes he would not support the extension of this particular legislation. Really?
Jerry Calease, Cruz’ inquisitor asked him if he knew that the three big automakers have refused to make their vehicles available for RFS fuel. Cruz said that he was not aware of that fact,
Calease responded: “You better catch up on that real quick.”
Calease lamented that he was one of ten kids who had worked in the fields with their father very close to this meeting. Cruz quickly exited the room as Peter King protected his favorite candidate.
Some in the Republican Party who claim that the press is ‘liberal,’ might call this a ‘gotcha moment.’ Cruz deserves to be exposed for what he is; a panderer who does not represent the majority of America’s people.
This is what happens when the issues take a back seat to tactics of misleading voters and attacking the opposition; whoever they may be.
