The truth is that Rand Paul should have withdrawn from the GOP race for the White House long ago. But he is not alone. Everyone with the exception of Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Carson should remain at home Thursday night and watch what might then become an actual debate.
Although FOX Business Channel is a terrible choice as the conductor of Thursday evening’s circus act, I would hope that the attacks cease and the GOP will actually have its first real discussion of the issues important to the American people.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been excluded from the prime time portion of Thursday’s event. He is on the ‘undercard’ with Fiorina, Santorum, and Huckabee.
“I won’t participate in anything that’s not first tier because we have a first tier campaign,” the Kentucky senator told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
From the first hilarious FOX Noise debate the RNC has refused to allow the voting public an opportunity to hear opinions by all candidates. Although it truly is a clown car, the voters are more important than a chosen few on an overcrowded stage; they have a right to make a decision and not be forced to hear the empty words of those selected by Republican leaders.
“It’s a mistake because the thing is we actually have been in the top five or six in most of the recent polls. In fact, last week in a national poll we were just one point out of fourth place. So I think it’s a mistake to try to exclude me from the national debate,” Paul told Blitzer.
Here I believe Senator Paul is stretching the truth. He, and the other four included in the ‘cocktail debate’ have virtually been forgotten by the American people. By the end of February, we will be plagued by four or fewer clown car passengers.
However, I defend Paul and the three other presidential hopefuls; they should all be on the main stage. Efforts by the RNC to derail Trump have failed; he is now the party’s leader, and they must accept the facts. But most of us care little about what he has to say; we would prefer to hear a discussion of the issues for once, and from all of the candidates.
Maybe none of them have anything substantial to say; we’ll know when Thursday’s ‘show’ is over.
