Because very few Americans take the time or make the effort to follow trends and changes in our nation, I, and others like me, will keep the public informed. These changes are extremely important. I do not write about ‘fashion trends,’ or the ‘latest diet,’ I choose to reveal changes which will affect our nation economically and politically.
Women between the ages of 18 and 29, millennials, have discarded their grandmother’s values. They are choosing careers over marriage. Some are taking a partner in their late 20’s while others choose the single life. More women than men are entering our colleges and universities. The most interesting change is their choice to have children. Not only are they waiting longer to have a child, some are choosing artificial insemination rather than traditional means; and some remain childless.
2014 was the last time statistics were compiled which revealed the average age women delivered a baby. The age rose to 26.3 years of age; in 2000 the average was 24.9 years of age.
In 2008 single women began to vote in larger numbers. Because of their concerns about careers over marriage, they have taken a far greater interest in our political system.
The Republican Party is likely to suffer greatly from this phenomenon. Their Congressmen and Senators consistently vote against women’s rights. They defeated the Violence Against Women Act; they voted against equal pay in the workplace; and they continue to deny a woman’s right regarding decisions about her own body. While members of the GOP deny that they have waged a ‘war on women’ for decades, the facts speak for themselves.
In the next decade, when millennial women are 28 to 39, they will be executives in our corporations, and hold additional elected offices in Washington.
For me it simply makes sense. For nearly 240 years, men have dominated our political system. They have led us into more wars than any other nation. They have failed our economic system and destroyed the Democratic Republic created by our founding fathers. Fueled by excessive testosterone, men have placed their egos ahead of their intellect and failed to use diplomacy in both foreign affairs and domestic issues.
In the workplace, women have taken additional responsibility and surged ahead of their male counterparts in productivity.
Will these facts affect the 2016 election? Very likely. While one party is ignoring women, the other’s leading candidate is a woman. While one party continues to attack each other and ignore the issues, the other is focusing on income inequality, women’s rights, and education.
When voters go to their polling places in November, there will be no contest if they vote with knowledge and intellect, and women will lead the way to our nation’s future.
