If you are a wealthy, white corporate CEO, you likely fear terrorism, which can disrupt your business and your investments. If you are a black person in America, you fear natural born American terrorists who seek the destruction of your entire race.
The Republican party, led by Donald Trump, has waged a war on Muslims, while they support all Christians, including those who are members of the Ku Klux Klan.
Virtually no effort has been made by politicians to defeat racism in America. The current group of GOP candidates deny that it exists. Maybe that’s because they, themselves, are racists, bigots, homophobes, and misogynists. If your primary campaign tactics are fear and hatred, you cannot claim to believe in the America in which I was raised. You are forbidden to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance,” because you do not believe in the words and their meaning. You are forbidden to discuss the Constitution if you don’t believe in all of its content, and not just the parts you pick and choose.
I’m sure that no one is surprised that the KKK hates “Martin Luther King Day.” To praise a black minister for leading a peaceful revolution is totally unacceptable. Burning crosses and creating unrelenting fear is the way to get things done in their America.
Just ahead of Martin Luther King Day, the KKK attempted to spread their message of hatred in at least three cities in three different states. Leaflets contained a basic message: “The blacks have NAACP, the Mexicans have La Raza, the Jews have JDL, and white people have the KKK.”
But their message did not receive wide acceptance in Mobile, Alabama; Anaheim, in California’s Orange County and in two boroughs in New Jersey’s Monmouth County, Red Bank and Fair Haven. In all three areas residents rejected the KKK’s divisive message. One tweet defined the majority of opinion.
“Only cowards pass out anti #MLK flyers w/ a #KKK biz card on #MLKDay anonymously. #SantaAna.”
Ignoring racism does not make it disappear from our culture. The Republican propaganda machine, FOX Noise, has consistently denied that racism is a great problem in our nation. It also discounts facts, (no surprise there), that police treat blacks differently than whites. As of the writing of this article, 26 black men and women have suffered their demise at the hands of law enforcement in 2016.
The American people must cease to allow themselves to be blinded by politicians. America has terrorist groups which have existed for decades. More than 90 innocent people are killed from the use of a gun every day. The middle class is disappearing as the numbers of both the wealthy and the impoverished rise. Racism is on the rise thanks to the media refusing to directly report the facts and the truth. Homophobes hide their true feelings behind emotional religious rhetoric. Religious extremists denounce the teachings of Jesus Christ and are spreading mistrust, fear, and hatred.
These issues and more must not be ignored. But when one entire party denies that these problems exist, the future of our nation is in jeopardy.
Martin Luther King was the civil rights activist. His message was of peace, love and forgiveness. His work was not controlled by emotions which weaken or prevent intelligent action. He was a great American, and labored to remove the evil actions of those who claimed to be patriots, but were in fact a terrorist group who had its own agenda.
America needs a lot of work, and that means it needs leaders who represent all of our nation’s people. We, the people, must find a way to bring back the United States of America.
