Democrats Take the High Road

Democrats

While the GOP is embarrassing itself with a leader who is a proven racist, bigot, and misogynist, the two leading Democrats can take pride in the fact that they are waging an intelligent and civil campaign.

Republican candidates have spent more time attacking each other personally and professionally than speaking about the issues. If they had sufficient intellect, they would be ashamed of their policies. Once again only six of the eleven candidates will take the main stage on Thursday’s debate. They are expected to be Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marco Rubio, Dr. Ben Carson, former Gov. Jeb Bush, and Gov. Chris Christie.

What this will mean for viewers who make the mistake of watching the entire debacle is more of the same; no debate will take place. It is not helpful that the moderators are not actual journalists; FOX Noise is hosting the event once again. Trump will attack Cruz, his only true competitor, about his citizenship and obtaining undisclosed campaign loans; Cruz will claim that Trump is not a true conservative, (like that’s a bad thing?); Bush will attack everyone because of his poor poll numbers; and Christie will once again express his eagerness to engage in another unwinnable war in the Middle East.

While they are demonstrating why the GOP is imploding, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders are campaigning on the issues.

Bernie Sanders continues to speak about the major crisis in our nation, the shrinking of the middle class as the numbers of those living in a wealthy environment and others slipping into the poverty level rise. While Republicans ignore the facts, Senator Sanders continues to state that his goal is to increase the wages of the working class, and insure that the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share for the privilege of profiting from American capitalism.

Ms. Clinton is speaking for poor women in America who are often denied their civil rights. Medical care related to their reproductive organs has become a cause for the former Secretary of State. The issue is larger than the average voter may believe. It is a possibility that whoever wins the election in November may appoint as many as four Supreme Court Justices.

Both Clinton and Sanders have faced all of the issues directly. In their debates neither has ‘talked around’ the questions. Both have complete answers and solutions to our nation’s most serious and complex issues.

Unlike Republicans, the Democratic candidates have avoided personal attacks and continued to speak about their differences regarding the issues. Because of this fact, no harm is being done to the Party. Republicans are destroying the future of the GOP.

While the GOP candidates continue to attack everyone else and use emotional tirades to influence voters, Democrats continue to use facts and make promises to repair the wrongs of our nation. They are positive and express hope for the future of our country and the majority of its people.

The possibility that we could have a totally unqualified man who lacks all knowledge of our nation’s government, and does not believe in the American way of life living in the White House in 2017, is truly frightening. It would signal the end of the United States of America as it was designed by our founding fathers.

If our nation continues to believe in emotions and deny logic, the dream of 1776 will have failed.
