Rand Paul’s Hopes are but Cinders as he Attacks Trump

Rand

As Mike Meyers might have said: “If Rand Paul wins the Republican nomination, pigs will fly out of my butt.” His libertarian beliefs would have instituted a policy of austerity, and prevented our nation from moving forward.

Senator Paul hoped that his constant appearance in the media in the past few years would make him a front runner for the GOP nomination. Instead the voters have rejected the TEA Party darling in favor of Donald Trump.

In what appears to be a waste of time, Paul continues to attack Trump. He is tied for 8th place in the latest composite poll at a hopeless 2.2 percent.

In a tweet Paul offered an illustration of long lines of people marching towards “Rand’s Road to Freedom” along a bright, winding lane ahead, with an alternate lane leading left for “Trump’s Road to Serfdom,” which leads into an ominous-looking cave.

The reference was to a 1944 publication written by Paul’s favorite Economist Friedrich Hayek.

Contained in the book is a forecast for national disaster.

“Hitler did not have to destroy democracy; he merely took advantage of the decay of democracy,” Hayek wrote. “And at the critical moment obtained the support of many to whom, though they detested Hitler, he yet seemed the only man strong enough to get things done.”

Does this apply to Donald Trump? I believe that a part of this remark does apply. I have always claimed that Trump’s supporters may not actually like him, but they are rejecting others who failed to perform their jobs. Like Hitler, for these GOP voters, he ‘seems like the only man strong enough to get things done.’

Rand Paul should consider this as an honest appraisal of why his poll numbers are so far behind Donald Trump’s. The three Senators in the race are all members of the TEA Party and therefore leaders of the obstructionist efforts in Washington.

I would advise Senator Paul to concentrate on his campaign for reelection in Kentucky; a popular Democrat is gaining ground in his home state.
