Ted Cruz has been one of the biggest naysayers regarding the Affordable Care Act. His health care is the best money can buy, thanks to the American taxpayers, but he doesn’t want you to have coverage. Instead of doing the right and intelligent thing and working to improve the present system, he wants to destroy it and leave millions of Americans once again without access to medical care.
The arrogant and brash senator was at a middle school in Hubbard, Iowa. He was asked a question about “Obamacare” which he could not and would not answer.
While ranting about one of his favorite subjects, again, he was confronted by a man whose question silenced the room.
Mike Valde told Cruz about his brother-in-law, who was a barber. He could never afford health insurance until the Affordable Care Act became effective. He began to feel ill. After he was tested, doctors told him that he had multiple tumors behind his heart, his liver, and his pancreas. Then they told him that there was nothing they could do for him.
In a room filled with silence, he asked Cruz a direct question.
“Mark never had health care until Obamacare,” Mr. Valde continued. “What are you going to replace it with?”
Cruz avoided the question and offered his usual half-truths that millions had lost their jobs and doctors because of Obamacare, and premiums had skyrocketed. He then showed complete insensitivity when he attempted humor with an attack on Hillary Clinton who supports health care for everyone.
Mr. Valde refused to let his arrogance pass.
“My question is, what are you going to replace it with?” he said.
Cruz continued his attempt to talk his way out of the uncomfortable situation, but failed miserably without ever answering Mr. Valde. Finally, Cruz left the room with his tail between his legs.
Cruz is not good at answering difficult questions, and this is one of the prime reasons that he is unqualified to seek public housing in the White House. He has no solutions and has been the most extreme and destructive politician since Joseph McCarthy.
He has chosen to ignore thousands if not millions of stories similar to that of Mr. Valde.
My wife and I are both receiving Medicare. However, for the last two years Sandy was insured under Obamacare. She lost her job before she was 65, and without it she could not have afforded medical insurance.
Cruz is the leader of the TEA Party and cannot be labeled a ‘Republican.’ He represents the wealthiest of our nation, and works against the working class, not for it. Under a Cruz presidency our nation would be led backwards and the majority would suffer while the one-percent became richer.
I believe that any presidential candidate who cannot answer a direct question should remove his or herself from the race. Don’t let the door hit you in the a** Mr. Cruz.
