Thursday’s seventh failure at a debate proved one thing; the Republican Party has decided that logic, facts, and truth must be eliminated from its platform. Even without Trump the craziness blossomed. There was lots of rhetoric without substance
The most popular subjects were ISIS and ‘amnesty’ for undocumented residents. The accusations were loud and frequent. None of them had any actual ideas about how to defeat ISIS with the exception of ‘war monger’ Ted Cruz who said that he would ‘carpet bomb’ them because that worked so well in Vietnam.
Marco Rubio received the most vicious attacks about immigration for his participation in the ‘gang of eight’ in 2013. Included in their proposal was a ‘path to legal residence’ which the others called amnesty. Of course Rubio now rejects his own idea. None of them discussed the difficulties for nearly 12 million men, women, and children who are in limbo. Humanity is not important to these clowns; it’s all about the money. All of them failed to point to the fact that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush granted amnesty to several million during the 1980’s.
“You used to support a path to citizenship,” Rubio protested. “So did you!” Bush replied.
There was no ‘debate,’ just lots of empty speeches intended to raise the emotions in the room; logic was not present. I miss Republicans.
Only one candidate spoke clearly and with some form of ideas; Rand Paul. Although he is far down in the polls, he offered a form of substance.
I must praise the Des Moines audience; they obviously have perception. Several times they booed Cruz. His radical suggestions and internal anger brought forth an unpleasant but well-deserved response.
One of the moderators introduced the problem in Flint, Michigan. There was but a single one-minute response; the rest of the clowns ignored the situation where a Republican Governor’s austerity measures poisoned an entire city’s water. The entire focus of the GOP is to reduce the deficit, even if it causes harm to our country which is the nation’s people.
Vice-President Joe Biden was right; Thursday night’s debacle was a gift to the Democratic Party.
