Why Cruz Must Win in Iowa

Donald Jr.

He may not display his desperation outwardly, but that is exactly what Ted Cruz and his campaign staff are experiencing today. He must win in Iowa tomorrow, or his ambitions are likely to fail.

Here is an example of his fear of losing.

Paul Pate is Iowa’s Secretary of State. He has reported that Ted Cruz’ campaign team is attempting to coerce Iowa’s voters through the distribution of a mailer accusing them of ‘voter violations.’

“Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law,” Paul Pate said.”

The top of the mailer has the words ‘VOTER VIOLATION’ in red and inside has the following falsehood.

“You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors’ are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday’s caucuses.”

Pate says that this is a blatant lie, and is intended to intimidate Iowa’s voters.

In the last two general election years, evangelicals have decided the outcome of the Iowa caucus. In 2008 Mike Huckabee was declared the winner, and in 2012 Rick Santorum was victorious. Cruz, who has openly admitted that he is a Christian first and an American second, has his future in the hands of Iowa’s citizens.

Donald Trump is correct about one thing when he attacks his nearest rival; no one likes Ted Cruz. His extremist views and battles with true Republicans have not gone unnoticed. He is the ultimate obstructionist, and the leader of the divisive TEA Party.

Trump and Cruz are virtually tied in the polls for the Iowa caucus, but in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, Cruz is far behind the Republican Party’s leader.

If evangelicals fail to help Cruz secure a victory, the nomination will become a one-man race, and mainstream Republicans will experience their worst nightmare.

Cruz has focused his attack on Trump with one issue; he claims that he is not a true conservative. I ask; ‘is that a bad thing?’ Extremism has destroyed our government and it must be eliminated from our political system if our nation is to move forward.

On the opposite side, Trump could say that Cruz is not a true Republican, and he would be accurate. There is no resemblance between Cruz and past greats in the party. He lacks values and substance as he continues to adhere to his oath to never compromise. Our two-party system cannot succeed without deliberation and cooperation between those on the right and those on the left.

Tomorrow night, when the results of the caucus are official, the Republican Party’s search for a leading candidate will be more clear. If Cruz is successful with the aid of evangelicals, the other three races in February will likely become closer. If he loses, he has been exposed as a charlatan. The voters of Iowa cannot be fooled as easily as the voters of Texas.
