It’s Time to Tell the Truth About the Trump Phenomena

you are fired

If you are as tired as I am of hearing how Trump has harmed and possibly destroyed the Republican Party, it’s time for the media and the RNC to tell the truth. It’s not something that today’s Republican Party is comfortable with, but it must be told.

I believe that no one is more surprised at Trump’s success than ‘the Donald’ himself. Now I’m not claiming that he entered the race without the belief that he could win the GOP nomination, but I’m certain that he expected competition from Jeb Bush at the very least.

So, why does Trump have enormous support, and what does it reveal about the GOP?

His supporters have informed the media that Trump speaks his mind, and talks about the issues. Whether they agree with everything he says or not, they respect the fact that he is saying something and is not just repeating ‘politicaleze.’

Whether it’s loyalty or simply a statement, his fans are expressing their disgust with the offerings of the GOP. For seven years they have watched mainstream Republicans and the TEA Party destroy our government. They are tired of the ‘party of no.’

Trump has ideas which are extreme, but he is far more of a centrist than the other contenders. He has been criticized for the fact that he believes in negotiation and compromise.

The GOP has moved too far to the right thanks to the influence of the TEA Party, led by Ted Cruz, and the lack of leadership. The United States of America is a country of moderates. Voters have been driven farther to the right since 2000 with tactics of fear and falsehood.

A party divided cannot stand, and this is where the situation lies today. Trump could not break something which had already been broken. Trump is simply the manifestation of a failure by the leaders of the Republican Party who allowed its principles and ideals to fade as radicals injected their irrational demands into its soul.

Those of us who are old enough to remember great Republicans cringe as these extremists have taken control of the once Grand Old Party. Former Republican presidents are rolling over in their graves as they watch these pretenders claim the label ‘Republican.’ Ronald Reagan’s own daughter says that he would be ashamed of all of this year’s candidates.

The media cannot be allowed to continue its allegation that Trump is the reason the GOP is imploding; he has no responsibility. He has not been in office for the last seven years, and that is the prime reason why he is the leader of his party.
