I never understood why Carly Fiorina declared her candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination. She has no qualifications; She laid off more than 30,000 HP employees, then moved the company towards bankruptcy. Fiorina then made an effort to become a United States Senator from California; she failed once more. This is her resume. However, I strongly defend her against the RNC which decided to remove her from Saturday night’s Republican ‘debate.’
She has a right to be heard by Republican voters, but once again the GOP exhibits its war on women and has denied her individual rights.
Regardless of the criteria for inclusion, with multiple candidates now removed from the race, she should be part of the melee.
The qualifications required that a candidate must place in the top six in an average of national or New Hampshire polls, or place in the top three in the popular vote of the Iowa caucuses. This decision was likely made before other candidates made the decision to withdraw. On the stage will be Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marco Rubio, Dr. Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and, John Kasich.
If the lone exclusion could have been Mike Huckabee or Rand Paul, would the RNC reinstated him in the debate? With every move, it becomes more obvious that Republicans consider women second class citizens.
The good news for Fiorina is that she will not be forced to witness the expected school yard brawl. Substance will not be included in what is surely to be an evening filled with attacks on each other, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and President Obama.
Desperation and ambition will force some candidates to increase the level of their personal and professional criticism. Those who do not place in the top three in New Hampshire should consider their candidacy a failure and resign themselves to private life.
Two presidential wannabees to watch closely are Jeb Bush and Chris Christie. These two experienced politicians are fully aware of the importance of the New Hampshire Primary.
If you enjoy television which is composed of anger, attacks, and lots of yelling, you may enjoy Saturday night’s charade. I doubt that I’ll be watching it live; I may set my DVR so I am able to watch the ‘lowlights.’
