Now that he is no longer a presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee has become a Christian. He no longer denounces all Muslims to attract voters. He is speaking the truth and recognizing the first amendment.

Huckabee supported the President’s visit to a mosque in an effort to convince Muslim Americans that they are not in danger of persecution advocated by Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

“Wednesday, President Obama spoke at a mosque in Baltimore. It was his first visit to a mosque as President, and he reminded listeners that most Muslims in America are peaceful citizens who’ve contributed to the American way of life for generations, including serving in the military. That’s not arguable, and it’s certainly worth noting and remembering.” Mike Huckabee.

The President is making an effort to prevent an escalation of hate crime in the United States. In 2013 the FBI investigated 1,223 religious based hate crimes. Of those 13.7 percent were directed at Muslims, and over 60 percent towards Jews.

Huckabee has received multiple attacks from his supporters for his praise of the President’s effort. Sadly, this is more proof of the fact that our nation has lost its compassion and prefers anger and hatred as the norm.

Rhetoric by the Republican candidates during this campaign season has further divided our nation. There are some of us who continue to believe in America, but far too many who would control our nation’s people through fear tactics, misdirection, and lies.
