Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton continues to campaign for the 2020 election. He is making continuous efforts to stay in the media. Even when what he says is not well thought out, he opens his mouth to gain notoriety.
He began with his traitorous action to destroy the Iran nuclear talks. He followed this action with a denial that our criminal justice system needs revisions. Now he is invoking further destruction of the fourth amendment.
In typical GOP style, he fails to offer solutions to a problem, he merely attacks the surface and continues to be part of the difficulty. Members of the TEA Party have consistently failed to deliberate, beginning with the Affordable Care Act, and continuing to today’s growing number of domestic issues.
Cotton accused Apple President Tim Cook of protecting “a dead ISIS terrorist’s privacy over the security of the American people.”
Here’s the problem: A solution must be found to eliminate those who would attack and harm the free people of the world from encrypting messages; about that there is no doubt. But our nation must cease to take actions which violate the Constitution. The Patriot Act virtually destroyed the fourth amendment. The government and law enforcement have been given unprecedented powers to search American homes, automobiles, and even our library accounts. When they take these unconstitutional actions they seize valuables and money, often with no recourse for the victim.
Tim Cook has taken a stand for the electronics industry; and that is necessary. However, that does not mean that some form of compromise cannot be accomplished.
Cotton joins others in his party and makes rash decisions before knowing all of the facts or considering other possibilities.
We must replace those in Washington such as Tom Cotton with intelligent, thoughtful legislators who will research, deliberate, and compromise the important issues facing our nation.
