Should We Believe or Feel Sorry for Bernie Madoff?

Madoff

ABC has released a mini-series titled ‘Madoff.’ It stars Richard Dreyfuss as Bernie Madoff, the infamous Ponzi scheme perpetrator who cost thousands of Americans their retirement and their future. In previous interview Madoff told reporters that he chose to read books and newspapers rather than watch television. Apparently he has changed his mind.

While serving his sentence in a medium-security federal prison in North Carolina, he apparently watched the ABC presentation. Apparently he was very offended; he wrote a letter to NBC angrily complaining about the broadcast.

Poor Bernie feels that he and his life were misrepresented.

I won’t honor him by listing his complaints; you can read them on the link. I will say that he is one of the three most despised men in America, and actor Richard Dreyfuss would agree.

Before the mini-series was released, Dreyfuss was asked how it felt to ‘portray the most despicable man in America?’ His reply was that he had already done that in the Oliver Stone movie, “W,” with his portrayal of Dick Cheney. I couldn’t agree more.

I do believe that Madoff is second. In third place is the former pharmaceutical CEO, Martin Shkreli.

There is no excuse for the evil perpetrated by these three men. Their selfish and unforgivable actions destroyed the lives and future of thousands of good and innocent human beings.

The one thing Madoff did not complain about was Dreyfuss’ portrayal of him. HBO will be releasing another movie about the Ponzi scheme architect; we will be waiting for his review.
