Charles Koch is the Chairman of the Board of Koch Industries. Along with his brother, David, they founded ‘Americans for Prosperity,’ a Super PAC supporting conservatives. They are also responsible for the creation of the TEA Party. Through their efforts extremists such as Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Joni Ernst won seats in our federal government.

So why did Charles Koch state in the Washington Post that he agrees with Bernie Sanders?

“The senator is upset with a political and economic system that is often rigged to help the privileged few at the expense of everyone else, particularly the least advantaged. He believes that we have a two-tiered society that increasingly dooms millions of our fellow citizens to lives of poverty and hopelessness. He thinks many corporations seek and benefit from corporate welfare while ordinary citizens are denied opportunities and a level playing field.

“I agree with him,” he wrote. Really?

Asked later if he would endorse the Senator, he replied: “Hardly.”

I can think of nothing which would inspire a Koch brother to praise the man who is against everything they are attempting to accomplish.

Today is my state’s turn to speak its voice for the Democratic candidate in November. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in a virtual tie. Was this praise of Sanders an attempt to sway voters away from Hillary? Is Charles Koch afraid of a Clinton candidacy?

We may never know the answers.

As for myself, I will proudly support the Senator from Vermont. We Independents must stick together.
