The rise of the TEA Party can be directly attributed to the failure of leadership by John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. Their weakness, proven by their inability to guide their constituents in the performance of the duties for which they were elected, undermined the new black president and failed the American people.
Mitch McConnell openly stated that his only concern in 2009 was to insure that Barrack Obama was a one-term president. McConnell must be accustomed to failure by now.
McConnell is a ‘party man.’ He has no concern for ideology, and no interest in the welfare of the American people; his goal is the election of Republicans and control of the government.
His latest traitorous act is an attempt to prevent the President’s nominee for the Supreme Court from approval. He mistakenly said that a replacement for Antonin Scalia should not be made until after the November election. Once again, McConnell is wrong, and he will likely fail.
Under the Constitution, President Obama has the right, and is obligated to nominate a successor as soon as possible.
The Court has an odd number of Justices for a single reason; to prevent a tie when a decision is reached. If the Court remains at eight, it is highly unlikely that it would be a functioning third branch of our nation’s government. This would last until the spring of 2017.
This attempt by McConnell is pure politics; politics at its worst. Obstructionism is un-American; it is not how our government works. Republicans are the reason why Washington remains in gridlock.
I cannot imagine what level of chaos our nation would experience if Republicans controlled both houses and the presidency. It would be the end of our forefather’s dream.
McConnell should join his partner in crime, John Boehner, and resign from the Senate. America needs men and women in Washington who will work for the people, not against them.
